Though Susanin's Auctioneers & Appraisers has been around since 1994, every year is more exciting for this innovative company, born and based in Chicago - especially 2014, which marks its 20th Anniversary. That's 20 years of selling unique, rare, beautiful and important pieces to an international audience, and the year kicked off with Susanin's being named one of hte world's best auction houses by Art + Auction magazine. Not too shabby. 'Last year was record-breaking for us - including four major auctions featuring the estate of Charlotte Vern Olson and the private sale of an important painting by Norman Rockwell,' says co-founder Sean Susanin. The business - which is housed in a 35,000 square foot facility in the South Loop - offers monthly sales featuring everything from paintings and prints to jewelry and period furniture. But Susanin's operates more interactively than most elite auction spots : Though the final sale happens when the galve drops in the live auction, bidding actually begins online in the weeks leading up to the event. 'Our goal is to make it as easy and convenient for bidders to participate in our auctions,' he explains. Gearing up for the Premiere Auction on April 5 and a home and garden auction on the 26th, Susanin hopes for another smashing year. Paddles up!
